Who We Are
Liverpool Dollars for Scholars in Liverpool, New York (USA), is the local affiliate chapter of Scholarship America. Volunteers who believe in the potential of our community's youth raise scholarship money for Liverpool High School seniors. The organization works with the approval and encouragement of the Liverpool Central School District. Scholarship recipients are selected by a local awards committee using the Scholarship America Guide to Chapter Awards. Applications are scored and awards are made on the basis of merit, extracurricular involvement, awards and honors earned. Students apply for scholarships online.
Our Affiliate Program
Scholarship America, formerly known as The Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America, is a national scholarship program founded in 1958 by Dr. Irving A. Fradkin in Fall River, Massachusetts. Liverpool Dollars for Scholars operates as legally constituted public scholarship foundation.
History of Liverpool Dollars for Scholars
Liverpool Dollars for Scholars was organized in 1985. That spring two Liverpool High School students competed for and won national Scholarship America awards totaling $1,000. In 1986 the local chapter presented its first scholarships to fifteen LHS graduates. Since then, we have demonstrated continued growth as more individuals, businesses and fraternal groups support scholarships. Today we give 175-190 scholarships to LHS graduating seniors each year.
